When the call came, they answered;

Without hesitation, they served;

The larger cause of freedom, they embraced.

As duty took on many shapes, they adapted;

Across the world, they deployed;

Longing for family left behind, they loved from afar.

Not knowing what to expect, they marched forward;

Into the abyss, they went anyway;

Some returned safely home, they did not.

For this eternal debt we owe, they never asked the price;

Honorable service and ultimate sacrifice, they freely gave;

As we solemnly remember, they rest in peace.
