Leadership is a Journey. Our 2017 Leadership Forum brought together Many from across our business for One Purpose: to drive positive changes in things that matter. Leadership has continuous improvement at its heart.
As I listened, absorbed and processed the creative energy around me, I observed Many:
- Talented people from vastly different backgrounds;
- States and diverse markets represented;
- Original ideas and fresh perspectives on old ones;
- Probing questions to challenge the status quo;
- Victories to celebrate;
- Losses to learn from;
- New Acquaintances to make and established ones to renew;
- Notes taken and Action Items flagged;
- Laughs and good times;
- Eyes on the future.
From Many, there emerged One:
- Clear Purpose, to become the best in our southern markets at creating premier properties and building lasting relationships;
- Set of five shared Pillars of Performance;
- Key Metric for each of the things that matter most;;
- Belief that there is strength in diversity;
- Cohesive Leadership Team;
- Pride in the Brand, reflecting those who display it;
- Understanding that what got you “here” won’t take you “there”;
- Renewed commitment to work on the business and not just in it;
- Desire to share what’s been learned with those back home;
- Commitment to take 2017 to A Higher Level!
It’s remarkable how the view changes when you are willing to get out of your comfort zone and explore the possibilities together.
