Wild Flowers
Fresh, new ideas are like wild flowers. They pop up where no one expects them and they capture our imagination. Wild flowers express randomness and symmetry at the same time and never do they appear in exactly the same way.
For those who expect nature to be highly predictable, wild flowers can be disconcerting. They don’t follow a pattern and yet they contain familiar elements. Sometimes whimsical, they make us pause and take notice, just like the most transformative ideas. We may even find a nugget of gold (or a goldfish?) within!
Pierre Henri Matisse knew these things when he created the painting that accompanies this article. It catches my eye every time I pass by and it always makes me smile. Pierre was about the magic of life and capturing the unexpected. I miss knowing that he’s still here in a physical sense, but his ideas and his creative energy live on and surround us. His wild flowers found their way to canvas and they suggest more than the mere image contains.
Your best ideas spread only if they are seen, appreciated and shared by others. The first step is entirely up to you. Wild Flowers don’t grow in the dark.
