We includes Me

September 20, 2019

The most successful professionals discover that their individual abilities can gain exponential potential through collaboration with other talented professionals. They learn through experience that ‘We includes Me’.

The Lone Ranger becomes, well, lonely. An “Independent Sales Rep” or “Independent Contractor” may be able to find their way riding solo through the wilderness of business, but the journey can be more productive and infinitely more fun if it is shared with others. The idea that one must “go it alone” misses the power of human connection.

Certain roles require an extra level of self-discipline to achieve success; for those in sales positions, this trait tops the list. If your actions and results depend mostly on your own focus and resourcefulness, looking within is critical. And this implies individual action and effort.

When a sales professional can also look beyond themselves to engage others who share similar roles, however, they can discover the power of Teamwork within a discipline not exactly noted for that trait. Their individual talents are actually amplified by sharing with others and learning from them in the process. Individual strength can be increased through group application. This points to the power of peer groups, trade associations, professional networks and the like; it’s not a novel concept, but it’s one that can be easily overlooked by the most independent individuals working among us.

Yet, when individual talent is paired with complementary talent, especially in realms like sales, the results can be transformational. Realizing that ‘We includes Me’ respects individual status, yet grows the market potential for everyone involved through collaborative efforts.

Independent doesn’t need to be isolated, once you realize that ‘We includes Me’.
