Top Talent!

May 4, 2024

When Top Talent gather and actively share their best thinking with one another, the effect is exponential.  This interaction elevates everyone’s game and generates powerful momentum, because:

Nothing breeds success like success!

Extremely talented people (aka “A-Players”) seek out others with similar positivity and energy and feed off each other.  I’ve been fortunate to experience this phenomenon first-hand over time and again just this week.  The effect is palpable and yet difficult to describe, which inspired me to reflect on “Why?” this is such a powerful force of human nature.  Following are my Baker’s Dozen thoughts!

Top Talent:

  • May join your organization to fill a role, but will only stay for opportunity;
  • Are motivated to continually improve every day;
  • View expert coaching as essential for empowering them to realize their potential;
    • Pro tip: If you don’t coach your Top Talent, then your competitor will.
    • They are attracted to leaders who are personally invested in their success!
  • Are inspired by a worthwhile purpose;
  • Have a fierce Will to Win, which motivates their best efforts;
  • Possess a keen understanding that the company they keep will shape who they become;
  • Value recognition and enjoy celebration;
  • Have a desire to share with others on the team, realizing that they become better together;
  • Celebrate victory and view learning from a loss as their next opportunity to win;
  • Care more than most;
  • Practice harder than many;
  • Embody a dynamic mindset, coupled with a continually-sharpened skillset;
  • Never quit!

The very best your team can be is either elevated or diminished according to the Top Talent you are able to recruit, develop and retain.  So choose wisely and invest regularly; the “dividends” will fuel your growth engine and lead to exponential success!
