Serendipity
The aptitude for discovery and success begins with an inquisitive nature. If you’re content with the status quo, or accept the first answer at face value, the odds of learning something new are very low. Businesses only get better when you take the time to understand critical processes and peel back the layers below the surface. What you find there isn’t always “desirable”, but it’s where improvement starts. Serendipity doesn’t live here.
Next comes doing the research and taking the time to learn more about what you’ve uncovered. More questions and more layers tend to follow. The light of understanding is shined on your subject; the sharper the focus, the brighter the light!
The informed analysis that follows reveals the improvement option, or multiple options, that are available to you. Each path requires resources and communication in order to realize a desirable outcome. Then it’s all about applying the discipline, consistently, to implement required improvements.
Success is not about Serendipity. Rather, success is about “making desirable discoveries on purpose” and then actually doing something with them. Enjoy the journey!
