Imagination
The most incredible inventions the World has ever seen don’t exist yet. Driven by the human spirit of Imagination, however, they will surely come.
More information than ever before is available with a few taps of our fingers; just “Google it” and, voila, an amazing array of choices appears! The remarkable iPad that I’m using to compose this blog article is an invention that has revolutionized our connectivity and which provides a seamless portal to the world of information. Technology has become a tremendous accelerator of information flow, but also brings with it challenges in identifying what is relevant, accurate and ultimately useful.
Geography and access to information are no longer the constraints they were even a few years ago; “The World is Flat”, as Thomas Friedman so eloquently describes it in his remarkable book of the same name. Opportunity and human potential exist in more places than ever before in history.
Vivid imagination and useful information are the ingredients that fuel true invention. Genius is imagination brought to life.
Who will create the next-generation “space plane”? Where will the breakthrough come from in the quest to cure cancer? Such inventions will represent huge leaps for civilization, while other advancements are more incremental. For example, what business improvements, those that are possible right now, will create the most highly-valued services company in its field?
These all depend on one thing as the essential starter ingredient: simply use your Imagination!
