Elevate!

December 8, 2019

Gravity is an immutable force.  It relentlessly pulls us back to earth and keeps us grounded.  That same physical force can also extend to our aspirations, but only if we allow it; in the cognitive realm, we get to decide how how high we want to go.  To elevate is up to us.

If you want to think bigger and reach higher, it’s wise to surround yourself with others who aren’t content with the status quo.  A group of motivated professionals has the power to harness their collective talents and diverse perspectives to challenge the organizational gravity that otherwise holds back growth and development.

Ambitious goals, strategic plans and progressive initiatives will elevate the energy and fuel progress within a group.  But only if they comprise a “Shared Consciousness”, as described by General Stanley McCrystal in his transformational book, Team of Teams.  With that as a rock-solid foundation, a team can deploy “Empowered Execution” to achieve almost anything.  How do I know?  Because I’ve been fortunate to see what that looks like and know how it feels in action.

To elevate is to be open to fresh ideas and to exploring new ways of solving old problems.  What got you here won’t take you there!  Of course, there’s the occasional visionary who comes along and changes the game for everyone (I’m thinking of people like Walt Disney, Steve Jobs and Elon Musk here), but I believe that most elevational improvements happen in less dramatic ways, every day, within connected teams.  In fact, the revolutionary changes of the visionaries only come to life when countless others share in and continually enhance their fundamental ideas.

The world of work transforms into a world of possibilities when our view elevates far above what’s right in front of us.  Aim Higher to go farther.  When we are inspired to see more, we can be more; it is then that we too can elevate our game.

Tempus Maximize!
