Some just call it Marketing.  For David Groleau, however, his role is actually about Cultivating Connections.  Not just any connections, however; the focus is on nurturing those that have meaning and depth for both parties; this is how he’s approached his mission every day for the past five years at Austin Outdoor.   David has fully-invested himself in the aspects of our business where lasting relationships are born.

Especially in these past two years of rapid expansion for Austin Outdoor throughout the Southeast, David has played an integral role in how we’re portrayed and perceived by current and prospective clients as well as our own staff.  He’s produced a lot of cool stuff that has carried our message into corners of the market that were new for us and where our brand was previously unknown.  Leveraging emerging technologies and social media have been tools in the process, but it’s not the mediums that have made the difference.  It’s the message.

At the heart of everything David has produced is his fundamental belief in the people who are Austin Outdoor.  It’s all about the people.  A conversation one day on this very topic led to coining the “Our People. Your Partner” theme, for which he created this video: 

If you haven’t seen it before, I recommend that you view it now.  If you have, I encourage you to watch it again.  The voice you hear is David and the words are his interpretation of who we are collectively in our quest for creating premier properties and building lasting relationships.  If you don’t have a smile on your face by the time this video is over, you might need to go see a doctor!

Whether David is busy creating valuable content, crafting high-level proposals, analyzing sales data, or performing contract reviews (his very favorite thing!) he always does it with a smile.  That enthusiasm even extends to occasional opportunities to use the real tools of our trade as evident in the accompanying picture.  That’s him at a Day of Service event literally Cultivating Connections with the earth!

I also thank David personally for the inspiration and encouragement to launch my “cultivation(s)” blog earlier this year.  As my trusty “Blogitor”, he’s been there weekly to post up my thoughts in the virtual world.  The connections I’ve cultivated through this forum have been very meaningful to me.

David’s journey with Austin Outdoor is coming to an end, as he furthers his marketing career in a new direction and industry.  He’s eager to tackle new challenges with confidence in what’s possible, an engaging smile and boundless energy.  Please join me in wishing him well and expressing thanks for the important work he’s done Cultivating Connections for Austin Outdoor.
